Hi, I’m Lisa

Trained pastry chef since 2012, apprenticeship in Cologne

In Germany I’m known as Kuchenfee Lisa, which means Cake Fairy Lisa. I’m a pastry chef and YouTuber, and on this site I bring my recipes to English readers.

Why I explain the why

In the apprenticeship you learn the reasons behind a recipe: why egg whites collapse, why ganache splits, why a sponge turns out dry. Most of the time you only find out when something has gone wrong, and then you stand in your kitchen without knowing why.

So that is what I write down. I explain why a dough rises, why a cream sets and why a bake sometimes fails. Once you know the reason, you can fix the problem yourself.
