Method

Streusel

  1. Mix the butter, salt, vanilla sugar and sugar until creamy, but don't beat until fluffy.

  2. Add the egg and mix it in as well until smooth, then add the flour and baking powder and work everything together until crumbs form.

  3. Line a large baking sheet (about 16 × 14 inches / 40 × 35 cm; a US half sheet pan, 18 × 13 inches, works too) with parchment paper and set a baking frame on it. Spread about half of the streusel over the sheet and press it down firmly and evenly. Set the rest of the streusel aside.

  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (170°C) convection (fan).

Cheesecake cream

  1. Briefly stir the cream cheese until creamy, then add the flour, sugar and a little vanilla and stir again.

  2. Stir in the eggs one at a time.

  3. Spread the cheesecake mixture over the base.

  4. Peel, core and roughly dice the apples, scatter them over the cheesecake layer and top with the streusel you set aside.

  5. Bake in the oven until golden and serve once cooled.
